Dr. Mila Saskova-Pierce, Associate Professor Emerita, UNL Department of Modern Langues will be the keynote speaker. The Czech language program’s celebration of it 110th year at UNL will be attended by the Czech ambassador to the the U.S., His Excelllency Hynek Kmonicek and the Czech Consul General in Chicago, His Excellency Borek Lizec, UNL Dean of Arts and Sciences Dr. Joseph Francisco and Chair of the Department of Modern Languages Patty Simpson.

Dr. Saskova-Pierce will be recognized as the Czech Honorary Consul Designate for Nebraska. Support the Czech language classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln by attending the Czech Language Foundations’ Annual Recognition Banquet. The doors will open at 5 PM for the Silent Auction, and the dinner of authentic Czech cuisine will be served at 6 PM. The evening includes: Silent Auction, Czech buffet dinner and dessert, Musical performance, Keynote address by Dr. Mila Saskova-Pierce that will focus on the highlights of the 110 years. Proceeds from the banquet support the foundation’s efforts to recruit students and scholarship donors. Each student at UNL who takes one of the 6 Czech classes receives a scholarship of $300 applied to the tuition for the class.
