Public talk by Venerable Bambalapitiye Gñanaloka Thera, a highly venerated senior Sri Lankan Buddhist monk of the Theravada tradition who is respected for his strict adherence to the monastic discipline and deep commitment to meditation practice.

Gñanaloka Thero’s talk will adress both Buddhist theoretical approaches to Samatha, Vipassana, and other contemplative practices, as well as their practical application informed by Gñanaloka Thero’s personal experiences in prolonged meditation retreats in the Himalayan mountains and forests of Sri Lanka. Open to students and general public. Sponsored by the Department of Classics and Religious Studies.
