The Czech Language Foundation’s annual banquet commemorates the 100th anniversary of the independence of Czechoslovakia, which occurred on the 28th of October, 1918. This commemoration will consist of remarks from the Czech Honorary Consul of Nebraska, Dr. Mila Saskova-Pierce and the main speaker, Dr. Stephen Lahey, Chair of the University of Nebraska Classics Department who will speak on the topic: “President Thomas Garrigue Masaryk, the Roots of his Philosophy and its Impact on the New Czechoslovakian State.”

The doors will open at 5:00 pm for the Silent Auction and the dinner of authentic Czech cuisine will be served at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for students and can be purchased by contacting Layne Pierce, president of the Czech Language Foundation at layne.pierce@yahoo.com or 402-770-5029.
