“Czech Women dissidents and the Art of Dissent”
Veronika Tuckerova, Harvard University, will discuss the life and work of several important women who were crucial for the Czech dissident and underground activities. The talk will draw on the recent exhibition at the national Gallery in Prague that the speaker co-organized and on her wider research and personal experiences of dissent.

“Behind the Scenes of the Art of Dissent”
Filmmaker James Le Sueur, UNL, will discuss making his documentary ‘The Art of Dissent.’ Czechoslovakia’s dissident leader of the 1989 Velvet Revolution, Vaclav Havel, emerges from a totalitarian nightmare and imprisonment to become his country’s first post-communist president. A story that shows us love, tolerance, and creative freedom aren’t just for fairytales.
