The Inter-Tribal Youth Council of Nebraska is sponsored by the UNL Tribal Extension Office, and it uses the Indigenous medicine wheel symbol to address the four directions of this program. As we enter the medicine wheel from the east, the youth council aims to provide a voice to Indigenous youth of Nebraska, then as we travel to the south direction, it will promote and increase cultural awareness and identity, as we travel to the west, the youth council will promote health and welfare among indigenous youth, and as we travel to the north direction, it will support education and career development for Indigenous youth of Nebraska, thus completing the medicine wheel.

The youth council will be made up of 7th-12th grade indigenous students who attend the Lincoln Public School district, monthly meetings and events will be held at the University of Nebraska East Campus Student Union. It will provide indigenous youth an opportunity to meet and work with other indigenous youth to address and find solutions for issues that impact their communities.

Benefits of joining include:
• Build strong and lasting friendships
• Develop public speaking and communication skills
• Provide volunteer opportunities to help their community
• Learn organization skills
• Increase cultural awareness
• Provide health and wellness workshops
• Create education and career folders
