Aaron Sojourner, senior researcher at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, will present the fifth Lewis E. Harris Lecture. Sojourner will describe and analyze the current state of America’s labor market including recent job growth alongside output decline. He will connect this to information-flow barriers in the labor market and discuss some of his recent research into improving job productivity by overcoming information problems faced by employers and by workers. These involve algorithmic analysis of job applications for hiring, narrowing the enforceability of non-disclosure agreements as advocated by the #MeToo movement, and institutions enabling workers to pool reviews about particular employers, such as Glassdoor.

Hosted by the College of Business and College of Law and sponsored by the Harris Family and GlaxoSmithKline, the Harris Lecture is free and open to the public.

The Harris Lecture Series brings renowned business experts to campus to engage students, faculty, business members and the community. This series promotes ongoing discussion and examination of major policy issues that affect the relationship between business and community, as well as business and government in today’s economy.
