Wim Bastiaanssen is an expert in satellite measurements of land, water and atmospheric processes. He is specialized in agricultural water management. His interest is in the computation of physical processes in the crop environment including micro-climates, irrigation scheduling, crop production and establishment of soil carbon pools using satellite measurements. Wim is the original developer of the SEBAL and ETLook energy balance models, the latter being the foundation of the FAO WaPOR database. Wim is the CEO of IrriWatch. IrriWatch provides daily on-farm advice to farmers in 50 countries. He is developing and implementing a quick water accounting system for helping discussions and decisions on allocation of scarce water resources.
