Picture a Scientist

Documentary Viewing & Panel Discussion

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Ruth Oliver,
The film Picture a Scientist chronicles the researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Characterized by Science Magazine as “sweeping in scope yet intimately compelling,” the film leads viewers on a journey deep into the very personal experiences of female researchers who have confronted a range of challenges from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights.

There will be a talk-back with filmmaker Sharon Shattuck, forensic chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring; moderated by Frazier Benya, senior program officer at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.

Please register by September 22 at 2 p.m. CDT to ensure you receive the link. Once you register, you’ll receive instructions on how to access the film viewing link, which will be active for viewing for several days.
