Quilting Series - Part Two

In this two-part workshop participants will design a quilt block using basic shapes, cut out pieces to make a throw-sized quilt using the Accuquilt® cutting system, assemble a quilt top, make a quilting plan, and practice a binding to finish the quilt edge.Participants should be familiar with using a sewing machine including knowing how to wind a bobbin and thread their ma-chine. An adult helper is encouraged, but not required, to assist with the activities.Equipment and Supplies:Sewing machine, quarter inch foot is recommended but not required12-16 fat quarters or quarter-yard cuts of quilting cotton with some light, medium and dark tones; solids, prints or a mix thereof are OK2 yards of 44” wide quilting cotton for the backgroundMedium, neutral-colored all-purpose thread (medium grey or beige recommended)Scissors, seam ripper, and other basic sewing toolsNote: Extra sewing machines are available so multiple children from the same household do not have to share the same machine. Donated fabric kits are available for families who face financial need.Workshop leaders will provide Accuquilt machines, dies, and mats; pressing stations; and cutting stations with mats, rotary cutters and rulers.
