What is the Dean Anna Shaver’s Memorial Auction? The Women’s Law Caucus at Nebraska Law is dedicated to the advancement of women in law through personal support, networking, and mentoring. Our annual auction is a premier event that gives back both to our community and the law school. In 2024, we raised over $25,000 for our multiple causes. This year’s event is an evening reception on March 8 from 7-10 p.m.at the Rococo in Lincoln. The event will feature a silent auction of items donated by local businesses, followed by a live auction of items donated by Nebraska Law professors and local attorneys.
This event is open to the public, students and faculty, as well as friends and family.
Auction Items:
We have both a silent auction and a live auction. Silent Auction items will contain a variety of items. In the past, we have had gift cards, wine, spa treatments, tickets to sporting events, jewelry, and more. The live auction will consist of professors from the law school offering fun experiences such as karaoke with Dean Moberly or dinner with professors. There is something for everyone!
How does the bidding process work? We will have a list near every silent auction item, the winner is the highest bidder. During the live auction, we will have paddles which one can use to bid on for each experience.
Is there a dress code for the event?
Yes! The auction is semi-formal! We would love to see you dress up for a fun night in the beautiful Rococo Theater.
Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
Participation and Contributions:
We would love for all WLC members to be involved in the planning process. If you know of a small business that would like to donate merchandise to showcase their business, please go ahead and contact them or contact Lauren Gosselin (lgosselin2@huskers.unl.edu) for help.
All proceeds are split evenly among the following:
Voices of Hope: providing services and advocacy to victims of sexual assault;
Friendship Home: providing crisis services and shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence;
The Nebraska Public Interest Law Fund (NPILF): providing grants for volunteers or low-paying public interest summer clerkships with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and private firms with a public interest practice;
Nebraska Lawyers Foundation (NLF): supporting programs like Volunteer Lawyers Project; Nebraska Lawyers Assistance Program; LSAT Prep Scholarship Program; Rural Practice Initiative; Leadership Academy Scholarships; and SOLACE (Support of Lawyers/Legal Personnel – All Concern Encouraged) Program; and;
The Anna Shavers Scholarship Fund: created in memory of the late Anna Shavers, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, who left a lasting impact on the law school .
