David ?erný, “artist provocateur,” will be giving a special talk in Abbott Auditorium in the Sheldon Museum of Art during Prague Spring 50 (a week of events celebrating the opposition to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, held April 3-April 7 at UNL).
?erný first gained attention on a national scale in 1991 for painting a national monument of a Soviet tank pink. The act of artistic expression ended in ?erný’s arrest. For over two decades ?erný has continued to display his controversial and political art throughout Prague and the rest of the world.
All events are free and open to the public.
