We present a theoretical method of pest management, using feedback control theory. For management of invasive species, control theory can be used to determine applications of pesticide or biological control. Our goal is to develop a control method that can be implemented with only access to limited observations of the population and in a manner that is both independent of the initial population distribution and works in the presence of model uncertainty, measurement errors, and disturbances. The theory is illustrated by biological control of the invasive species Diaprepes root weevil, a generalist herbivore that has invaded citrus- growing regions of the U.S. We use high gain adaptive control to help determine how to control this with nematodes (small worms that kill the host which is a pest insect larva).
