 entation by Dr. Carrie Oser on “Substance Use Treatment & Recovery Among
  People Involved in the Criminal Legal System in Rural Areas\: Examining t
 he Role of Social Networks.” \n\nSocial networks are an important\, yet 
 overlooked\, factor in addiction health services research. No known studie
 s examine geographic differences in egocentric social network characterist
 ics among people receiving prison-based substance use disorder (SUD) treat
 ment and continuing their recoveries after community re-entry. Using socia
 l network and qualitative data from both rural and urban criminal legal sy
 stem (CLS)-involved individuals and CLS SUD treatment staff\, this present
 ation aims to\: 1) identify differences in social network characteristics 
 among rural and urban individuals with CLS involvement\, 2) examine how th
 ese social network differences impact treatment and recovery\, and 3) prof
 ile a new mHealth social network intervention tailored to support people i
 n recovery with CLS-histories residing in rural counties. \n \nDr. Carrie 
 Oser is a University Research Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sc
 ience in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. She serves
  as the Associate Director of the Center for Health Equity Transformation 
 and the Substance Use Research Priority Area. As PI\, Dr. Oser has been NI
 H-funded for two decades and published over 150 papers on addiction health
  services\, health disparities/equity\, HIV\, social networks\, implementa
