As we approach another vintage season, it’s time for our Harvest Field Day on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the UNVP Research Vineyard. Don’t miss it! Details are as follows.
Kimmel Orchard site, Nebraska City, Nebraska
Registration at 9 a.m. and program begins at 9:30 a.m.
Cost is only $10 and includes lunch and hand-outs
Topics include:
· Crop Estimation and Harvest Timing;
· Harvest Measurements;
· Canopy Management and Crop Balance;
· Handling Disease Problems;
· Other Harvest Challenges; and
· A look at relative success of new and not-so-new cultivar performance (Noiret, Corot Noir, Bianca, and some very successful Norton, among many others).
We will meet in the KImmel Orchard parking lot and travel out to the research plantings for the program. We will use the lunch hour to answer questions and return to the vineyards with those who wish to look at the various cultivars and pursue further discussions.
WE’LL SEE YOU THERE! We’re looking forward to harvesting some great grapes and ultimately enjoying some great 2013 Nebraska wines!
Please RSVP to Steve Gamet, sgamet1@unl.edu, Paul Read, pread@unl.edu, or Kathy Schindler, kschindler1@unl.edu.
