This film explores four Muslim women’s challenges as they choose to wear…or not wear…a headscarf (the hijab). The story of each woman as she interacts with different members of her family and the community, reveals the diversity of Muslim experiences and viewpoints regarding the hijab. The film conveys how the hijab carries many different meanings and demonstrates the complex effects of the hijab on Muslim women, their families and communities, and raises questions about the present and future of multicultural societies in North America.
A panel discussion will follow the screening of the film. The panel includes professors Loukia Sarroub, Abla Hasan, Claire Nicholas and Ph.D. candidate Samirah Alotaibi.
