Dr. Hicks received her B.S. in Chemistry at Marshall University, summa cum laude, and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where she was the recipient of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Her research focuses in the general area of biological mass spectrometry with three specific foci: quantitative proteomics, post-translational protein modifications, and antimicrobial peptides. She has co-authored >99 peer reviewed publications and has received nine awards as a faculty member spanning research, teaching and mentoring, including the prestigious NSF CAREER in 2015, the Eli Lilly Young Investigator Award in Analytical Chemistry in 2018, and the Society for Redox Biology’s Mentoring Excellence Award in 2020.
