n April of this year Chancellor Perlman and Zheng Nanning, President of Xian Jiaotong University (XJTU), formally established the American Exchange Center (AEC) on the campus of XJTU. The Center serves the entire University of Nebraska system and includes an on-site American staff person and a physical space on the XJTU campus.

One of the missions of the center is to facilitate student and faculty exchanges. It is now possible for UNL students to go to XJTU in Xi’an China for a semester or some other arranged time and learn Chinese language, culture, history, calligraphy, tai chi, and other things.

Dr. Susan Song, Executive Dean of the School of International Education at XJTU will visit UNL next week and will describe her College’s programs for students who are interested in learning more about China. There are many options.
