Faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to visit the newly refreshed Couple and Family Clinic during an open house Sept. 9 from 2 – 5 p.m. The Clinic is located within the Family Resource Center at 1615 N. 35th St. on East Campus of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Through the generosity of an anonymous donor the Couple and Family Clinic has recently been transformed with new furniture, paint, and artwork. In addition, a new mindfulness space has been created for campus guests to use when visiting the Clinic.

“I’m really excited that we now have a space that is reflective of the high-level of service one can expect from the Couple and Family Clinic,” said Carrie Hanson-Bradley, director of the Couple and Family Clinic and assistant professor of practice in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies. Hanson-Bradley also serves as the director of the marriage and family therapy program in CYAF.

The program has partnered with Holly Hatton-Bowers, associate professor and early childhood extension specialist to incorporate mindfulness into the trauma-informed care provided at the Clinic. Engaging in mindfulness and reflective practice has shown to have many benefits for health and well-being.

“We’re anxious to use the new mindfulness space and discover how this will impact our training capabilities.”

Services provided at the Couple and Family Clinic include couples counseling, family therapy, pre-marital therapy, trauma-informed treatment, individual therapy, discernment counseling, parenting classes, and more. Services are also available in Spanish. Care is provided by students in the marriage and family therapy program, receiving specialized training and supervision.
