CICL 101 is a course for children with no or little previous Chinese language proficiency. The class will present the pinyin (Chinese phonics) system, description of Chinese characters, and preliminary Chinese culture. It will also teach very basic Chinese language skills that are closely related to their everyday lives such as greeting, counting, and naming of body parts. Students are expected to learn about 50 Chinese characters at the end of the class.
