CICL 302 is a sequential class to CICL 301. The instructor will review and complete lessons on basic Chinese grammar and key sentence patterns, instruct students to practice the appropriate usage of idiomatic expressions, and elevate the student’s comprehension capabilities in Chinese. Emphasis will be placed on using Mandarin proficiently when conducting conversations with native Chinese speakers. Upon finishing the course, the student’s communication skills in Chinese will be improved significantly and feel less challenged when conducting conversations with others in Chinese. Students will be given time to practice phrases used in daily life such as open a bank account, visit a doctor’s office, do grocery shopping, and chat with friends at parties. Students will likely be required to present a short speech or presentation in Chinese at the end of the course.
