From the moment a seed is planted through to harvest, crops need to be protected from weeds, insects and diseases as well as droughts and floods, heat and cold. As a world market leader in crop protection, Syngenta helps farmers to counter these threats and ensure enough safe, nutritious, affordable food for all – while minimizing the use of land and other agricultural inputs.
Join us for a variety of events as Syngenta takes over East Campus!
7:30 - 9:00 a.m., CASNR Coffee Club, Dinsdale Learning Plaza (west side of the building)
This is an opportunity to connect with Syngenta professionals in a casual setting over coffee and pastries.
11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Syngenta Information Booth, Nebraska East Union, 1st floor (outside the Dining Center)
Stop by to learn more about Syngenta’s mission and culture, as well as jobs and internships that are available.
1:30 - 3:00 p.m., Ice Cream with Syngenta, Plant Sciences Hall lawn (west side of the building)
Come enjoy music, games and ice cream courtesy of Syngenta.
5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Lightening Round Talks, Nebraska East Union Great Plains Room
Hear from Syngenta professionals and ask any questions that you have about their organization. Food will be served!
Round 1: Preston Hurst (UNL Alum) and Donna Delaney will talk on corn trait introgression, where they will explore the innovative techniques and benefits of integrating valuable traits into corn varieties. Discover how this process enhances crop resilience, yield potential, and overall agricultural sustainability in just a few minutes!
Round 2: Benjamin Ford (UNL Alum) will discuss sustainability and the roles of farmers, agricultural companies and others in the supply chain as we consider how to form new partnerships in developing more sustainable systems. To feed the projected 9.7 billion people by 2050, and to do so while addressing increasing pressure on our water resources and climate will require engagement of all stakeholders in the food production chain.
Round 3: Adam Whitacre (UNL Alum) will talk on the transition from college to work life and beyond. He will discuss how to leverage your college education, student networks and leadership experience to land a job in agriculture and succeed in the real world. He’ll be joined on stage with fellow Cornhuskers to answer questions about their experiences.
September 5 - On-campus interviews by invitation only
