DESCRIPTION:Direct to consumer sales will be focus of an Annie’s Project 
 Retreat to be offered Dec. 8-9 by Nebraska Extension\, at the Panhandle Re
 search and Extension Center in Scottsbluff.\nHigher numbers of women are d
 iversifying their agricultural operations by including direct to consumer 
 sales such becoming a farmer’s market vendor\, delivering farm fresh egg
 s to consumers and other niche marketing ventures\, according to retreat c
 oordinator Jessica Groskopf\, Extension Educator – Ag Economics. \nThe p
 rogram will help people think about how to connect with consumers\, price 
 the goods they produce\, and ensure that their products are safe for other
 s to consume. \n“Selling directly to a consumer is the perfect way for f
 armers and ranchers to tell their story\,” she said. “But there are ch
 allenges of providing marketing goods this way.”\nThe retreat begins Fri
 day\, Dec. 8\, at 9 a.m. and concludes Saturday\, Dec. 9 \, at 3 p.m. Part
 icipants receive handouts\, an Annie’s Project Portfolio and meals. \nSe
 ssions include brief presentations\, discussions focused on the participan
 ts’ questions. Attendees will hear from multiple direct sales experts in
 cluding Nebraska’s Buy Fresh\, Buy Local program\, the Nebraska Departme
 nt of Agriculture\, an expert in canning jams\, jellies\, and pickles\, a 
 local agronomist who specializes in fruit and vegetable production.
