With: Cathy Anderson, Production and Compliance Programs Chief for the USDA Nebraska FSA and Brad Lubben, Extension Policy Specialist from UNL.

While a new farm bill did not make it to the finish line before the 2018 Farm Bill expired in September, further efforts point to an extension of existing programs for another year. A simple farm bill extension however hides the complexity of another Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) versus Price Loss Coverage (PLC) program decision in 2024. Changing economic conditions, price projections, and underlying support levels for both ARC and PLC in 2024 mean that producers will want to give careful thought to another ARC v. PLC enrollment decision at the USDA Farm Service Agency. This webinar will provide an update on farm programs details and decisions for 2024 and discuss the prospects of further farm bill development in the coming year.

Anderson will discuss farm program decisions for 2024 under the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage (ARC/PLC) commodity program safety net. Lubben will discuss the economics of the ARC v. PLC decision for 2024 and the broader farm bill issues and prospects still ahead.
