Achieving global food security in the short and long term in the face of current political, economic and climatic challenges is at the forefront of our conversations today and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Food shortages driven by the war in Ukraine, rising energy prices, supply chain issues, the increasing frequency of climate extremes on food production and numerous other factors are contributing to this crisis. There are also many opportunities available to enhance and improve agricultural food systems both locally and globally.

Speakers:
Holger Kray is practice manager for agriculture and food security in the World Bank’s Africa Sustainable Development Group.

Joe Glauber is a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, DC where his areas of interest include price volatility, global grain reserves, crop insurance and trade.

Rev. David Beckmann is president emeritus of Bread for the World and
recipient of the World Food Prize for his contribution to the world’s progress against hunger.
