We never forget that before Dr. King belonged to the world, he was a product and pastor within the prophetic tradition of the Black Church. This does not diminish the potency of Dr. King’s work and what it means to the world, but we strive to remember that King’s action reveals the best of the prophetic impetus of the Black Church.
