General inclusive teaching strategies are beneficial for improving inclusion in the classroom, but for a classroom to be fully inclusive, the unique experiences and needs of students also need to be carefully considered. In this workshop we will explore the unique needs of marginalized groups of students based on dimensions such as race, disability, age, and religion. Then we will discuss concrete strategies to help meet the unique needs of those students in the classroom to create a more inclusive and effective learning experience. The session will include a PowerPoint presentation and short interactive components.
By the end of the session participants should be able to:
Identify the unique needs of different groups of marginalized students.
Describe strategies to better serve the unique needs of those students in the classroom.
