Steve Thomas, an associate professor in Nebraska’s School of Natural Resources, will discuss “The Consequences of Local Adaptation in Stream Ecosystems: Ecological Roles and Special Distribution,” at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29.
The Natural Resources Seminar is free and open to the public.
Thomas will highlight research results that illustrate how local adaptation influences phenotypic traits and the ecological roles of fish in Trinidadian streams. Also, how the local adaptations lead to higher species turnover of aquatic insects along tropical elevation gradients relative to temperate latitudes.
