DESCRIPTION:Nancy Nguyen is an emerging documentary editor based in Los Ang
 eles\, California. She was an editor on New Wave (Tribeca) and In Living M
 emory\, part of the Daytime Emmy-nominated series Asian American Stories o
 f Resilience and Beyond (PBS/WORLD Channel). Nancy recently assisted on He
 ightened Scrutiny (Sundance)\, about the Supreme Court fight for gender-af
 firming care for transgender youth. Currently\, Nancy is working on a docu
 series about Southeast Asian communities across the U.S. ahead of the 50th
  year anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.\n\nAt this week's Ignite\
 , Nancy will discuss how her undergraduate and postgraduate experience nav
 igating the film industry led to a career as an editor/assistant editor fo
 r independent documentaries. As a student at UC Irvine’s Digital Filmmak
 ing program\, Nancy developed a foundational documentary education making 
 films spanning from the gay bars of her hometown to the rowdy teenagers of
  Cerrito\, Paraguay. Out of school\, she worked on productions for indie n
 arrative features and companies like Paramount\, AMC\, Hulu\, Max\, and mo
 re\, before pivoting to documentary post-production with a focus on storie
 s centering marginalized voices.
