Faculty flutist John Bailey will present a solo recital on Thursday, March 31, 2016 dedicated to the flute works of 20th-century German composer Paul Hindemith (1895-1963). On the program are Hindemith’s canonic sonatina for two flutes (performed with DMA student and Hixson-Lied fellow, Nicaulis Alliey), his Eight Pieces for solo flute, and the Sonata for Flute and Piano (performed with recent DMA graduate, Janka Krajciova). The final piece will be performed as a short lecture/recital, with discussion of aspects of the piece with musical illustrations.
