The Concordia String Trio (CST) concert will feature the world premiere of Beyond the Celestial Horizon by Berklee College of Music composer Andrew List. The piece was written in celebration of CSTs 20th anniversary. Mr. List has been fortunate to enjoy a number of residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Aspen Music Festival, La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and Visby Centre for Composers in Sweden. He was awarded a distinguished artist-in-residence grant, sponsored by Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, the city of Amsterdam and the American Embassy in The Hague. Other works on the program include American composer Gwyneth Walker’s When the Spirit Sing, a set based on three American spirituals, and the delightful string trio by World War I French composer Jean Cras.

Violinist Marcia Henry Liebenow leads a multi-faceted career as an artist teacher, a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist. She is Concertmaster of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and professor of Violin, Viola, and Chamber Music at Bradley University. Leslie Perna, violist, is a respected artist and teacher whose performances have been broadcast internationally on radio and television. She is currently Professor of Viola and Chamber Music at the University of Missouri-Columbia, violist of the Esterhazy Quartet, Director of the Missouri String Project, and a founding member of the Concordia String Trio. Cellist Karen Becker is a passionate teacher, an active soloist, and an avid chamber and orchestral musician. She is Professor of Cello in the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and principal cellist of the Lincoln Symphony.

The Lincoln performance is the CST’s first of four concerts in their fall 2022 tour in Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, and Boston. This versatile ensemble has built a reputation for its exciting performances and innovative programs, juxtaposing pieces from the standard string trio repertoire with new compositions and little-known works of great composers. Their newest recordings are Viennese String Trios, released in August 2017 on the Centaur Label and American Vistas, released in 2018 on the same label.
