The Employee Assistance Program is offering a speaker presentation on dementia from 4:00-5:00 pm Thursday, May 1 in the Nebraska Union, Platte River Room South.

Dr. Kristy Weissling, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, a Professor of Practice and the Interim Chair of the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders, will provide a clear overview of dementia, including what happens in the brain, common types of dementia, and why it matters in everyday interactions. From a speech-language pathology perspective, she will focus on how dementia affects communication and thinking and discuss practical strategies for interacting with individuals who have dementia—whether in the workplace, community, or at home. The goal is to help university employees better understand the condition and respond effectively and respectfully.

Please register by Friday, April 25th at 402-472-3107 or EAP@unl.edu.
