In honor of Love Your Body Day, the Healthy Outlook Peer Educators and Nebraska Medicine-University Health Center are bringing Southern Smash, a scale smashing event, to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Founded in November 2012, Southern Smash was created to fill a silent void in our society. Poor body image and negative self talk have sadly become the cultural norm. Southern Smash wants to change this disturbing ‘new normal’ and start a different conversation around our bodies and self worth. Through SmashTALK panel discussions and its unique and empowering scale smashing event, Southern Smash aims to educate the public about the dangers of eating disorders, but also to empower individuals to celebrate and embrace true beauty and self-love.
