Join us for the short story “Kamishibai: Hats for the Jizos” from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center’s Kawasaki Reading Room (301). All students are welcome, and snacks will be provided. The short story is about an old man who sees six statues of the deity Jizo looking cold on New Year’s Eve. He decides to cover their bare heads using five straw hats and his own scarf. His wife approves of what her husband does and they celebrate the new year with the simple food they usually eat. During the night, they are rewarded by the statues.
