Behavioral Motivational Interviewing (BMI) is grounded in behavior change counseling theories and is intended to support staff members as they navigate challenging conversations with students which result in student-driven change behaviors. The training focuses on strategies such as open ended questions, affirmations, and reflective listening.
BMI training is most helpful to staff working in student-facing roles such as advising or student success.
Big Red Resilience and Wellbeing is offering this free 90-minute training to staff and faculty members.
