“Capillary endothelial cells: the hidden power behind dietary fat delivery” will be presented by Dr. Brandon Davies, assistant professor of biochemistry, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
The goal of his research is to delineate the role of endothelial cells in metabolism and metabolic disease, with a particular focus on triglyceride metabolism and fatty acid delivery. Current projects include investigating the regulation and transport of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), identifying the factors that control the capillary-bed specific expression of the LPL transporter GPIHBP1, and characterizing novel mechanisms of triglyceride clearance.
