Douglas D. Thomas is an associate professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has been involved in nitric oxide (NO) and free radical research for over 20 years. Over the past two decades, his research contributions to the field have spanned diverse aspects of NO chemical biology including cell-signaling, iron metabolism, and epigenetic regulatory functions in cancer.

He was the recipient of the UIC Researcher of the Year in the Basic Life Sciences category (2015). He is actively involved in the Society for Redox Biology and serves on the board of the NO Society as well as being on the editorial board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and an executive editor of Biological Chemistry.

A reception will be held after the seminar in the Beadle Atrium.
