Join us at The Mill Coffee & Bistro at NIC for the AI and Data-Driven Innovation Meetup. This meetup is for anyone wanting to meet/greet with the community of people around Nebraska interested in all things Artificial/Augmented Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, and Data Science, and their applications across any/all industries. Experts, practitioners, academics, entrepreneurs, and those who just want to learn more about these rapidly advancing fields are all welcome. The idea is to multiply everyone’s expertise, interests, ideas, and networks for everyone’s mutual benefit.

August 6 speakers include:
Shelly Palmer, whose newsletter goes to more than 600,000 subscribers. Blockchain is well-known for being Bitcoin’s underlying technology, but many believe blockchain has the power to radically transform whole industries. Shelly will cover the Blockchain, its relationship to cryptocurrencies, and 6 important non-cryptocurrency uses of the Blockchain.

James Barrat - the author of “Our Final Invention - AI and the End of the Human Era.” James is a documentary filmmaker who’s written and produced films for National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, and many other broadcasters. The Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI) called the book “The compelling story of humanity’s most critical challenge.”

Scott Kessler who is pioneering blockchain-based innovations to revolutionize how energy can be generated, stored, bought, sold and used, all at the local level in Brooklyn NY. They are developing the community-powered Brooklyn microgrid. Participants can engage in a sustainable energy network and choose their preferred energy sources locally using Smart Meters and Blockchain.

Andonis Mitidis is a Senior Data Scientist and physicist. His experience encompasses a broad spectrum of Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Physics, and Mathematics. He has also led projects in artificial neural networks, deep neural networks (CNN, RNN), support vector machines, subspace classifiers, hidden Markov models, Markov decision processes, Bayesian networks, probabilistic graphical models, and Natural language processing. Andoni also won a Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. He will speak on ‘The History of AI: Past, Present, and Future’.
