Julian Alston, Distinguished Professor, Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Director of the Robert Mondavi Institute Center for Wine Economics, University of California, Davis, presents “(Some of) The Economics of Agricultural Innovation.” This seminar draws on a draft chapter being prepared for the Handbook of Agricultural Economics. Coverage includes historical and contemporary perspectives on agriculture in the American economy, public and private institutions for and investments in agricultural and other industrial R&D, farm productivity patterns, and contemporary policy issues.
