Dr. Kareta and his laboratory are fascinated with the complexity of transcriptional regulation, and how it results in establishing cellular identity and restricts cellular plasticity. Trained at UCDavis and Stanford University, Dr Kareta is now thrilled to be leading an NIH-funded laboratory investigating the role of transcriptional master regulators and their role in cancer development. They are currently exploring the “stem” factor, SOX2, in the development of the lung, role in lung progenitors, and pathologic function in lung cancer.
