Anthony W. Ferrante Jr., MD, PhD is a Tilden-Bieler-Weger Professor of Medicine and Chief of Preventive Medicine & Nutrition at Columbia University. His research focuses on adipose tissue - its normal and pathologic functions and how it contributes to weight regulation. Recent studies have revealed evidence for a non-leptin signal that limits weight gain, the release of lipid filled exosomes from fat cells that participate in lipid homeostasis and the role of exosomes in modulating immune cell function and identity.
