SUMMARY:Agronomy and Horticulture Seminar\: Peter Sikkema
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:Herbicides have been placed in Herbicide Groups based on their
sites of action. A major driving force for this classification system is t
hat growers have been encouraged to rotate or mix herbicides from differen
t HG to delay the evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds\; because\, in th
eory\, all active ingredients within a herbicide group physiologically aff
ect weeds similarly. Although herbicide resistance in weeds has been studi
ed for decades\, recent research has demonstrated patterns of cross-resist
ance are more complex than merely stating a certain weed biotype is resist
ant to a HG. The objective of this presentation is to highlight the intric
acies associated with cross-resistance patterns within HG.

SUMMARY:Irrigation Efficiency Ratios for Profit and Productivity
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:With Matt Stockton\, Professor\, Agricultural Economics\, UNL\;
Shannon Sand\, Extension Ag Economist\, UNL\n\nUsing the right efficiency
ratios can be critical in assessing the sustainability of productivity an
d profitability of irrigation and nitrogen resources. This webinar examine
s three different efficiency metrics\, the Water-Nitrogen Intensification
Performance Index (WNIPI)\, Dollar Return of Irrigation and Nitrogen (DRIN
)\, and Net Return to Irrigation and Nitrogen (NRIN). Each measure has it
strengths and weakness. The DRIN and NRIN rely on three factors\, costs\,
revenues\, and productivity. These two measures are easily to developed. B
y understanding these simple metrics and apply them through time progress
can be made toward individual business goals and objectives. The relations
hip of understanding the relationship between the biological and economic
factors are explored remembering that both are important but not necessari
ly completely compatible in producing desired outcomes..

SUMMARY:Virtual HACCP For Meat & Poultry Processors
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system
is the universal language of food safety management. In this course\, you
will learn foundational knowledge and practical tools to develop and imple
ment HACCP plans applicable to a variety of food commodities. Additionally
\, you will review examples of real HACCP plans\, and learn common reasons
why HACCP plans fail as well as potential solutions for those issues.

SUMMARY:PhD. Dissertation Defense - Andrew Mwape
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:This dissertation examines the role of public participation in
strengthening drought risk management across both developed and developing
country contexts. Using a mixed-methods approach\, it explores how partic
ipatory practices enhance drought preparedness\, response\, and policy eff
ectiveness. A case study from Nebraska\, USA\, highlights the benefits of
stakeholder engagement in raising awareness\, clarifying responsibilities\
, and improving water resource management. A proposed evaluation framework
provides drought managers with a tool to assess participatory efforts in
state drought planning. In Zambia\, research reveals significant gaps in d
rought governance\, including limited public involvement\, inadequate prep
aredness\, and weak institutional coordination. The study concludes that w
hile participation is context-dependent\, its strategic integration enhanc
es adaptive capacity\, stakeholder ownership\, and policy legitimacy in dr
 ought risk management worldwide.
