Title: Restorative Justice programs are an application of alternate dispute resolution to criminal law. Victims and offenders use the process to have a civil discussion about the crime and determine a way that restitution can be made. These processes seek to repair the damage that crime does to society, give victims a greater role in determining the punishment of the offender, and ultimately reduce recidivism through accountability. This talk will explore how restorative justice practices are being implemented in Nebraska to address crimes committed by youth.
