Panelists will discuss the impact of the pandemic on certain vulnerable populations in the Nebraska legal system. Topics will include challenges faced by courts trying criminal cases, overcrowding in the Nebraska Department of corrections, the challenges of low-income Nebraskans in eviction and debt collection actions, racial and ethnic disparities in our justice system, and the current efforts to both address those disparities and to improve public trust and confidence in Nebraska’s justice system.
