As a consequence of globalization, more lawyers serve clients with interests effected by international and customary law. These developments also increase the need for cross-cultural competence among legal professionals, even in a rural state like Nebraska. This panel will discuss how to navigate the unique challenges which arise when clients have international interests, best practices for supporting clients, considerations for professionalism, ethics, and cross-cultural communication.

This is presented by Prof. Paul Weitzel, Nebraska Law, and Laura Gonnerman, general counsel at the University of Nebraska, in conjunction with the Global Trade & Business Think Tank, a student organization at Nebraska Law.
