In this informal presentation, Scout Calvert, Research Data Librarian, will share some projects that explore new ways of encoding genealogically relevant data that can also contribute to organizing data and family groups beyond the pedigree and family group charts. The Enslaved project from Michigan State University and the Oikos Ontology both use “linked data” structures to make it easier to bring disparate data points together and identify new connections and groupings, allowing historians and genealogists to uncover hidden stories.

Join in the online discussion on Thursday, January 20, at 11:30 a.m. Register at https://unl.libcal.com/event/8743728 to receive the Zoom link.
