Title: A Representation Theoretic Approach to Exceptional Sheaves on the Projective n-Space

Additional Public Info:
Let V be an n + 1 dimensional vector space over the field of complex numbers C, let R be the exterior, or Grassmann algebra on V , and let S = C[x0, · · · , xn] be the
polynomial algebra in n + 1 indeterminates. Finally, let cohP^n
denote the category of coherent sheaves on the projective n-space. A coherent sheaf E is called exceptional, if Ext^i(E, E) = 0 for all i > 0 and, in addition, E has an endomorphism ring isomorphic to C. My talk will be about a way to reduce certain problems about coherent sheaves (in particular, exceptional ones) to working with some very nice modules (called linear modules) over the exterior algebra, and use some existing representation theory methods there.

Refreshments will be served 3:30-4:00 in 348 Avery. The talk is free and open to the public.
