Scott Anderson and Michael Cotton will present a recital of music for trombone and piano on September 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. This program will feature a first half consisting of little-known works from the Paris Conservatory Competition repertory. These pieces have been staples of the French Repertoire butare rarely performed in the United States anymore. The second halfis planted firmly in the 20th and 21st centuries. The most compelling of the works is a relatively new piece by composer Jacob Ter Veldhuis (aka JacobTV) titled “I was like Wow”. The piece takes on the topic of war in a multimedia presentation including video, audio and trombone. The final piece on the recital is Anderson’s arrangement of an Oasis song for alto trombone and three trombone accompaniment.
