The Fourteenth Annual Honors Spring Strings Festival hosted by the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will take place in-person on February 28 - March 1, 2025. This exciting two-day event is for high school students!
Guest Conductor: Dr. Rebecca MacLeod is past President of ASTA (American String Teachers Association) and the author of “Teaching Strings in Today’s Classroom.” She is in her first year as a distinguished member of the music education faculty at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). Prior to her appointment at Illinois, Dr. McLeod was Professor of Music Education at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG), where she directed the string education program and conducted the UNCG Sinfonia.
Events for the two days include:
1. Spring Strings Orchestra rehearsals with Dr. Rebecca McLeod
2. College Talk with students and string faculty to chat about college auditions, careers in music, Q & A, and more.
3. Breakout sessions by instrument to include technique tips, repertoire ideas, and masterclasses for those who wish to play for the Glenn Korff School of Music’s award-winning faculty.
4. Concerts: attend a recital given by UNL music students, a recital by the string faculty, ending with the Spring Strings finale orchestra concert on Saturday afternoon (3PM).
5. This event conforms to UNL’s code of conduct. By agreeing to participate, registrants agree to be photographed to publicize the event.
