In this presentation, Mel will guide attendees through AI basics, introducing common tools, discussing key differences between AI technologies, and teaching effective prompt-writing strategies.
Presented by: Mel Sedlacek, Office Associate and IDEA Campus Coordinator
Biography: Mel Sedlacek is an Office Associate in the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they also serve as a Campus Coordinator for IDEA, an online consortium UNL is part of. Known as the department’s go-to tech expert, Mel is passionate about AI and emerging technologies, constantly exploring how they can enhance productivity and learning.
Mel has attended multiple AI-focused conferences, including a major event in San Diego and Microsoft’s three-day AI conference, deepening their expertise in artificial intelligence tools and applications. They have delivered AI presentations within the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS), helping faculty and staff understand and integrate AI into their workflows. A lifelong tech enthusiast, Mel also has a deep love for all things LEGO and is an avid reader, having read an impressive 394 books last year.
