NUtech Ventures is hosting a free noon webinar that is open to all Nebraska researchers.
Register here: https://go.unl.edu/inventorship101.
A Zoom link will be emailed to all who register by 9 a.m. the morning of the webinar.
Guest speaker Karthika Perumal, partner at Womble Bond Dickinson law firm, will discuss the statutory basis of inventorship, the court decisions shaping this body of law, and what acts are insufficient to be an inventor. Not all authors of a scientific article are considered inventors on a patent that contains content from the article. It is critical to understand the legal term “inventor” compared to the subjective term “author.” Improper naming of patent inventors can jeopardize patent ownership. It can also be construed as fraud, rendering a patent invalid and unenforceable.
